Foothills Center for Women offers the following services:

1. Hormone Therapy

At Foothills Center for Women, we work closely with compounding specialists to provide customized Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for women. Needed hormones are tailored to the individual in the most appropriate strength and dosage form to meet their specific needs. Close monitoring and medication adjustments are essential and offered by your Foothills team as part of the complete therapy process.

We perform ZRT Saliva+ Blood Tests and hormone bloodwork to determine the best options for your treatment. We offer bioidentical hormone therapy integrated with proper fitness and nutrition for women.

This preventive medical approach helps put an end to the suffering caused by:

  • Stress induced adrenal fatigue
  • Signs of early menopause
  • Perimenopause

2. Bio Identical Pellet Implantation

Hormone therapy with pellet implants is the most effective and the most bioidentical method to deliver hormones in women. Implants, placed under the skin, consistently release small physiologic doses of hormones providing optimal therapy.

What Are Pellets?

Pellets are made up of either testosterone or estradiol. The hormones are pressed or fused into very solid cylinders. These pellets are larger than a grain of rice, but smaller than a Tic-Tac. In the United States, the majority of pellets are made by compounding pharmacists and delivered in sterile glass vials.

Why Pellets?

Pellets deliver consistent, healthy levels of hormones for 3-5 months in women. They avoid the fluctuations of hormone levels seen with every other method of delivery.

Testosterone delivered by a pellet implant has been used to treat migraine and menstrual headaches. It also helps with vaginal dryness, incontinence, urinary urgency and frequency. Testosterone has been shown to increase energy, relieve depression, increase sense of well being, relieve anxiety, and improve memory and concentration.

Testosterone delivered by pellet implant increases lean body mass (muscle strength, bone density) and decreases fat mass. Men and women need adequate levels of testosterone for optimal mental and physical health, and for the prevention of chronic illnesses like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, which are associated with low testosterone levels.

Estrogen delivered by subcutaneous pellets maintains the normal ratio of estradiol to estrone. This is important for optimal health and disease prevention.

Pellets may not be as likely to increase the risk of blood clots like conventional or synthetic hormone replacement therapy. In studies, when compared to conventional bioidentical hormone therapy, pellets have been shown to be superior for relief of menopausal symptoms, maintenance of bone density, restoration of sleep patterns, and improvement in sex drive, libido, sexual response, and performance.

Even patients who have not had success with other types of hormone therapy have a very high success rate with pellets. There is no other method of hormone delivery that is as convenient for the patient as the implants. Pellets have been used in both men and women since the late 1930′s. There is more data to support the use of pellets than any other method of delivery of hormones.

3. Fatigue & Stress

Are you constantly exhausted and stressed-out? Intense or prolonged physical and emotional stress commonly associated with a busy lifestyle or chronic illness can lead to hormonal imbalances. At Foothills Center for Women, we perform saliva tests which measure various hormone levels, including stress hormones.

These symptoms are associated with inadequate levels of adrenal hormones:

  • Fatigue and lack of energy
  • Sleep disturbance or insomnia
  • Irritability and Anxiety
  • Dizziness and feeling lightheaded
  • Body Aches

4. Adrenal Fatigue

The adrenal glands secrete hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone that are essential to health and vitality and significantly affect how your body functions. Proper adrenal support is essential to complete the hormonal pathway to optimal health. These hormones closely affect your body’s ability to utilize carbohydrates and fats, convert fats and proteins into energy, and your cardiovascular and gastrointestinal functions.

5. Adrenal Imbalance

Overworked adrenal glands can lead to a wide array of debilitating health conditions ranging from minor allergies to morbid obesity. The adrenal glands produce three types of steroid hormones:

Glucocorticoids (Cortisol) : Cortisol enables the body to respond and adapt to the stresses of daily life. It also helps to maintain blood sugar levels and promote a healthy immune system.

Mineralocorticoids (Aldosterone): Aldosterone works to balance salt and water in the body.

Androgens (DHEA/DHEAS): Androgens secreted by the adrenals provide the majority of DHEA for both men and women. For women, the adrenal glands are the major source of testosterone. Imbalances in the adrenal system can contribute to problems with the nervous and immune systems, body composition difficulties, blood sugar irregularities, and high androgen levels.

6. Saliva Testing

Measures the levels of steroid hormones, including stress hormones such as cortisol, through saliva samples. Saliva testing only measures hormones that are not bound to proteins and are usable by our cells, unlike blood testing, which measures all hormones regardless of whether our cells use them.

Accurate measurements of hormone levels allow us to diagnose you properly by detecting biochemical imbalances, monitor treatment, and adjust dosage.

Hormones Tested With Saliva:

  • Estrogen: Treats menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and insomnia
  • Progesterone: Enhances hormone balance after menopause
  • Testosterone: Promotes stamina, mental focus, muscle strength
  • Cortisol: Necessary for energy production, stress response, blood sugar metabolism
  • DHEA (Adrenal Gland hormone): Necessary for energy production and disease prevention

Advantages of Saliva Testing:

  • Non-invasive and convenient for at-home tests and multiple samples
  • Accurate steroid hormone level measurements
